Safer Driver Seminar

Transport for Greater Manchester are holding their first ever Safer Driver Seminar at the ground of FC United of Manchester in Moston on Tuesday 21 April 2020.

There will be outstanding presentations from various organisations, including the Fire & Rescue Service and the Police, looking at the safety and well-being of drivers in later years.

You will also find useful information on lots of alternative and accessible transport to keep up your active social life.

If you’re over 60 and would enjoy sitting in the company of other experienced drivers, why not come along to this fantastic event. A delicious lunch will be laid on for all attending (and it’s FREE).

There’s no driving involved (other than getting yourself there), so come along, bring a friend, relax, and enjoy the show.

CALL NOW on 0300 123 1518 to reserve your place, as spaces are limited.

Transport for Greater Manchester also run free driver training sessions enabling older drivers to remain confident behind the wheel. They enable experienced older drivers to reflect on their own driving, increase confidence in their ability and also to consider efficient alternatives to driving.

My wife and I attended one of these courses earlier this year. We had seen the advert on the TfGM website and thought that it would be beneficial having passed our tests 50+ years ago. The course consisted of a theory session followed by a driving session. The theory session was very informal and covered the possible hazards faced by older drivers covering both their driving style and the increase in possible hazards since they passed their test. We needed an automatic car so we both went with the same trainer (Paul) in his car. He asked both of us what we wanted to gain from the session and arranged the drive accordingly. At no time did we feel pressured and the whole experience was relaxed but informative. At the end of the course we both felt reassured regarding our driving ability and we enjoyed every aspect of the course. Ian, Prestwich
