Encouraging people living with dementia to share their experiences to reveal how they're dealing with lockdown, self-isolation and social distancing.
tide Dementia DekhBhaal is a tide project set up by Shahid Mohammed to help south Asian carers of people with dementia connect with other carers and for tide to share important information and appropriate signposting to help and support.
tide, ‘together in dementia everyday’, is a UK wide involvement network of carers, former carers and health and care professionals who are working together to build a better future for carers of people living with dementia.
The dementia DekhBhaal project seeks to address issues such as stigma, barriers and silence around dementia among some BAME communities and initiates ideas about ways to reduce these.
The ‘Loneliness – We are together’ project was to encourage people to share their experiences to reveal how they are dealing with lockdown, self-isolation and social distancing. It was a chance to record history and create a unique booklet for the future during one of the most extraordinary moments in living memory. The book is a collection of poetry and prose to show us carers’ experiences of lockdown, how places local to them have transformed and how communities have come together and the way life has changed for us all.
This was a creative approach to capturing the views, feelings and hopes of people living through lockdown.
