Get Involved with Dementia United

We aim to engage lived experience in all aspects of the programme. Find out how you can get involved

You can get involved through our existing  groups and networks or directly as part of specific pieces of work. Our governance structure includes lived experience contributing the vital perspectives which comes from real lived experience, both from people living with dementia and their carers.

Co-production alongside people with lived experience of dementia, ensured their voices and experiences were central to the activities and discussions in all aspects of event planning and delivery. The day would not have been the success it was, without the contribution from people with lived experience both leading up to the event and on the day itself. You can read our event evaluation report here

We have two groups:

  • Dementia carers expert reference group: This group was set up in 2018 and consists of current and former carers of people with dementia who are passionate about improving the lives of carers of people living with dementia and those they care for across all Greater Manchester.  Find out more
  • Living with dementia group: We consider you an expert by experience. We know that you are in the best position to advise NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care on the needs of people living with dementia. Living with Dementia Group members get involved with and influence our entire programme. Living with Dementia Group members are equal partners in Dementia United’s leadership structure. They are also represented at our Steering and Task & Finish Groups, and on multiple additional projects. Find out more
