Carried By The Wind, by Goofus Theatre for Dementia United's Big Brain Health Fund. Join our two strolling players as they hit the road and follow a beautiful feather that could lead them anywhere.
Goofus theatre was founded in 2012. They’re a touring theatre company, creating original performances blending puppetry, mask, clowning, play and music. The majority of Goofus’ work is non-verbal and is inclusive for everyone, including people living with dementia. When audiences cannot go to a theatre, they take the theatre to them.
For our Big Brain Health Fund, they created “Carried by the Wind” and shared it with people living with dementia across a number of care homes, dementia cafes and hospital wards in Greater Manchester.
The impact we see on those living with dementia is joyful moments of personal contact and that for us is what’s so wonderful, those moments. Artistic Director, Paul Barnhill
The feedback from audience members speaks for itself:
“I couldn’t get over it, I messaged my friend all about it. Glad I can watch it again. How you just made it is marvellous”.
“A big thank you to Goofus Theatre who spent some time bringing laughter & joy to our patients at Salford Royal. They loved the show & are still speaking about it on the ward”.
“I thought it was stunning. The wonderful thing was that there were no words. You didn’t need words, you felt it all.”
As a direct result of the Big Brain Health Fund, Goofus Theatre were successful in their bid for £20,000 from the Arts Council. They continue to go from strength to strength as a touring theatre with new productions and venues and you can find out more about their amazing work here.
