Brain health and wellbeing
Promote brain health and help prevent avoidable cases of dementia, supporting wellbeing and independence
Research shows that it may be possible to reduce your risk of developing dementia by making relatively small changes to your lifestyle and habits which improve the health of your brain, particularly from middle age onwards. On our brain health and wellbeing page you can find out more about:

Education and training
Design, develop and facilitate education and training across all sectors
- We want to ensure everyone in Greater Manchester has an awareness of dementia and that practitioners working directly with people living with dementia are appropriately trained. This project focuses on promoting the training available for all affected by dementia, advocating for mandatory dementia awareness training, and sharing training resources across organisations. It also includes work to support person centred responses to distressed behaviours and complex needs. Read more
Research and innovation
Increase access to benefits of dementia research through awareness, involvement and participation
Dementia United are committed to increasing research involvement, awareness, and participation, particularly amongst underrepresented populations. The ultimate goal of research is to find a cure. However, research is also crucial in finding ways to help people live well with dementia and remain independent for as long as possible. Read more

Greater Manchester partnerships supporting the LGBTQI+ community
The aim of the project was to scope out opportunities for people affected by dementia, from the LGBTQI+ community, to be able to share their experiences. These experiences and feedback would then inform and drive improvements in the quality of services, information, and support available. Find out more
