Amal Morsi, Project Manager with Dementia United recently completed this programme and attended the #Core20Plus5 Ambassadors Cohort 2 graduation event in Leeds.
The event was an incredible opportunity to network and exchange ideas with like-minded professionals, all committed to tackling these challenges head-on. I was especially proud to showcase my project poster, which focused on Enhancing Dementia Care in Greater Manchester. It was inspiring to see the breadth of work being done across England, and the Ambassadors’ spotlight presentations were truly motivating. Looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing the important work of improving care for everyone
Ambassadors are people working within the NHS and wider systems who are committed to narrowing healthcare inequalities and ensuring equitable access, excellent experience, and optimal outcomes for all, particularly Core20PLUS populations who are more likely to experience healthcare inequalities. These include people living in areas of high deprivation, ethnic minority communities and inclusion health groups.
Amal’s project focused on how to improve access, experience, and outcomes for people living with dementia across Greater Manchester. It looked at several key areas:
- Access: Mapping diagnostic pathways and post-diagnosis support to address disparities in dementia diagnosis and care.
- Experience: Collaborating with individuals with dementia and their caregivers, to enhanced care quality and ensure it was person-centred and equitable.
- Outcomes: A comprehensive dashboard and a dementia strategy were developed to monitor and improve care quality, ensuring alignment with national guidelines and promoting equity.
