DELIRIUM ONLINE TRAINING FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AND CARERS – DURING DEMENTIA ACTION WEEK

On Thursday 16th May 2024, 16:30 to 18:30 Dementia United are hosting a free online delirium training session for carers and sharing some fabulous carer resources

The training will cover:

  • What is delirium?
  • How to prevent delirium
  • Identifying the causes and signs of delirium
  • Getting help when you need it.

Delirium causes a short term confused state and can develop over hours or days. It is a common condition. 20% of adults in hospital experience delirium, 50% of people who have a hip fracture will experience delirium. Delirium is a sign of an underlying illness and is a medical emergency. Delirium will usually improve once the underlying illness is treated. People living with dementia are at higher risk of developing delirium, plus we know that we can prevent around a third of delirium cases.

We would really like your support with sharing and promoting the session ahead Dementia Action Week. The training is open to all family members and carers, and is being held on Thursday 16th May 2024, 16:30 – 18:30 pm.

  • To book on the training please contact gmhscp.dementiaunited@nhs.net
  • We will email you with the calendar invitation and a Microsoft Teams link to join the training.
  • We will be sharing a recording of the training for anyone unable to join on the day.
