Locality projects
Dementia was highlighted as one of the early devolution priorities. Dementia United is the five-year transformation support and development programme developed to enable the Greater Manchester system meet the Greater Manchester dementia standards and build on the great work that is already taking place, alongside developing a campaign and platform for improvements. It will be delivered through key partnerships, listening to the voice of people with dementia and those who care for them and offering the opportunity to have a ‘big conversation’ across Greater Manchester. The 18 months of scoping and development (June 2015 – Dec 2016) has built commitment, excitement, enthusiasm, energy.
The Dementia United vision is that people living with dementia and carers are able to contribute to, and benefit from, sustained prosperity and enjoy a good quality of life.
Our vision is to make Greater Manchester the best place to live if you are living with dementia.
Dementia United was able to award up to £10,000 to each locality in Greater Manchester to support an innovative project relating to one or more of the Dementia United key focus areas or golden threads. It was intended that the locality projects would be innovative, have sustainable outcomes and be transferable across Greater Manchester and/or regionally or nationally.
